ABOUT US

The Midnight Corporation is an organization of immense global importance, with diverse objectives encompassing research, security, and more. For more than four decades, Midnight has operated beneath the veil of public awareness, acting as the first and only line of defense between humanity and the unexplainable. In any case, our task is clear: to monitor, contain, and experiment with the various types of threats that defy the laws of nature and represent a real danger to a community or region, categorized as anomalies for lack of a better name.

Each anomaly represents a unique oddity of our world that has been detected by our field agents and can range from intelligent life forms not yet cataloged by any scientific community, to objects with incomprehensible capabilities and places that defy the known laws of physics and nature. Your role here is fundamental; every entry you make, every observation you document, and every rule you follow ensures the safety of hundreds of people. You are not simply an employee, you are now part of something much greater. You are a gear in the world's largest clockwork mechanism, one that always watches, and that will never stop ticking.

PEST CONTROL EQUIPMENT (PCE)

As a Midnight employee, you will have to deal with hazards day and night, so, to prevent a violent demise, you will be equipped with specialized protective gear for high-risk environments. The PCE (short for Pest Control Equipment) is a maintenance suit designed to allow our agents and researchers to operate safely in highly unpredictable conditions, from extreme temperatures to biohazard exposure or direct confrontation with dangerous subjects. Each PCE is equipped with an air filtration system for toxic or spore-rich areas, an internal recording system to preserve every second of your expeditions, a sealed communication relay to stay in contact with your designated overseers at all times, and an emergency beacon in case everything fails. Remember, never remove your PCE in an active zone unless cleared to do so by high command; it's not just equipment, it's survival, and every second with it is another second alive.

CLEARANCE LEVELS

Midnight uses a tiered access system that classifies the clearance level of each and every employee, ranging from one to eight. The higher the clearance, the deeper the data uncovered and the heavier the burden of responsibility.

LEVEL 1 — JUNIOR RESEARCHER

Handles minor anomalies and performs basic documentation, no field authority. Assists in low risk containment; limited interaction with subjects.

LEVEL 2 — FIELD AGENT

Responds to standard incidents, enforces containment, authorized to issue temporary sanctions. Limited interaction with contained subjects.

LEVEL 3 — SENIOR RESEARCHER

Conducts standard experiments, implements containment measures, and is authorized to impose temporary sanctions on lower-ranking personnel.

LEVEL 4 — SENIOR FIELD AGENT

Responds to standard field incidents, implements containment measures, and is authorized to impose temporary sanctions on lower-ranking personnel.

LEVEL 5 — INTERNAL OVERSEER

Oversees field operations, coordinates junior and senior staff, conducts risk assessments.

LEVEL 6 — HIGH COMMAND

Assigned to dangerous or unstable anomalies, they also design and modify security protocols.

LEVEL 7 — DIVISION OVERSEER

Determines classifications, approves terminations or permanent containment, controls restricted access.

LEVEL 8 — RED ROOM ADMINISTRATOR

Absolute authority with the final say in all operations. Only eight bear this honor.

THE BLACKSPIRE

Located deep within █████████, far from any human settlement, the Black Spire serves as the main headquarters of the Midnight Corporation. Within its fortified walls several departments operate under the supervision of the Red Room Administrators to ensure the flawless success of all our operations. Once you arrive, and depending on your individual skills, you will be assigned to one of four departments, each with a vital purpose:

SECURITY DEPARTMENT

The Security Department represents the corporation's internal defense branch. It is responsible for the security of the Blackspire and its staff.

ETHICS DEPARTMENT

The Ethics Department is the backbone of the corporation, ensuring compliance with Midnight's laws and sanctioning those who violate them.

OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT

The Operations Department is a highly confidential unit due to its importance and sensitive nature. Its members face threats daily, efficiently designing and planning ways to neutralize them.

INNOVATION DEPARTMENT

The Innovation Department specializes in harnessing the power of the world's rare resources and using them for good, such as weapons to combat enemies or methods to aid the wounded whenever possible.

X-CLASS SUBJECTS

As part of your assignments inside the BlackSpire, you might be required to conduct human-based interactions with the contained anomalies. However, due to the unpredictability of some of them, we use a certain type of individual to avoid putting the lives of our employees at unnecessary risk; individuals designated as X-Class Subjects (unofficially known as level 0 employees). X-Class Subjects are persons who have been sentenced to death or life imprisonment. Through a series of classified agreements, these individuals have been given a new chance to be useful to society and have been transferred to Midnight custody for research purposes. The use of X-Class subjects is strictly regulated; any unauthorized experimentation, mistreatment, or deviation from protocol will result in immediate disciplinary actions and possible contract termination, depending on the severity of the situation. Although considered expendable, X-Class subjects are vital assets, and thanks to their use, we can better understand what we are up against.
